A summer's flight my son took

Every summer,  at the local airport, the chapter of the Young Eagles take flight.  Pilots volunteer their time,  aircraft and fuel and take young people for a flight.   We have participated for a number of years,  but the age cutoff is “under 18” and my son turns 18 in July.  This will be his last opportunity to fly like this.   He asked the pilot to fly over our ranch,  and he did…….I called my mom to let her know,  and he took a few photos from above.  I love to fly,  small aircraft are wonderful inventions.   Commercial jets are ok, but  it is the small ones that I love.  Biplanes…….OH !  When we first moved here,  the first airshow we attended here……..there was a Stearman Biplane giving rides !  for a fee of course,  but mom gifted both me and my son.   I had the best time EVER………it was funny though,  to take off and be watching the altimiter say 4700 feet ………duh, we live at something like 4100 feet.  I was used to flying from sea level.  That was the most fun I have ever had – few things would come close.   I totally scared my son to death yelling to him (alright, so he couldn’t understand what I was yelling about,  he told me months later he thought I was mad about something 🙂  Yikes.  It was magnificent though.   When I was growing up there was an airport not too far from home.  Whenever I would hear the aircraft overhead, I would have to stop and watch them.  Just wondrous.  Nothing in the world like it.
